Do electric androids dream of sheep?

Today the feeling that our lives are controlled by technology is a common one. Everything we do is governed by machines, codes, QRs, applications, smart phones and computers. This reality is impossible to deny, and although Artificial Intelligence is present in almost everything we do and we feel like we are constantly loosing our own identity, technology can also help us to understand and navigate this hard times.

Through conversations with algorithms and machine learning tools I have created a series of digital images based on my self ideas, self portraits, and self understanding of my world.

I worked with two Artificial Intelligence tools: Art / image generators, and Word associations. What does a machine see and what ideas does associate when I type words like “control” “pandemic”, “art”, “tinder”, “social networks”, “antonio”, “Castello”, “colombia”?. What does the computer create when I feed hundreds of my self photos on it? What choices do I have to control it?

Our identity per-se is not ours anymore, it’s a mix of personal choices and machine learning. These images are a computer view of my persona and the world around me.
